Built at the beginning of the 19th Century, the residence of the Baroness von Stolzenau was surrounded by a large park. The castle is counted as one of the jewels of the ''Neugotischen Gürtels'' (HREF="http://www.kotoba.ne.jp/word/11/Gothic Revival architecture" TITLE="Gothic Revival architecture">Gothic Revival Belt” ) of Coburg and had nine different owners throughout its history.
