Seafest
Seafest is a festival in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia which celebrates life by the sea. The 10 day event features parades, tours, seafood dishes, and activities for all ages. Seafest 2014 is taking place from July 16–26, the theme "''Seashells and Sandcastles''." ==History==
Beginning in 1979, the Seafest Festival has expanded from a week-long festival in August to a 10 day festival in July. Having once been under the control of the Yarmouth Development Corporation, Seafest is now run entirely by volunteers.〔http://seafest.ca/id59.html/〕 The Canadian Government supports Seafest in the form of funding,〔http://www.pch.gc.ca/eng/1309013479366/1309013691321〕 and the town's MLA, Zach Churchill, serves as an advocate for the festival, having established its importance with Premier Stephen MacNeil, published as a Stephen's Pick〔http://nsliberalcaucus.ca/picks/view/180〕
