Sengapadai (Tamil: செங்கப்படை) is a village 30 km southwest of Madurai city and 10 km southwest of Thirumangalm. The village was created by Koon Pandiyan (Tamil: கூன் பாண்டியன்), a Pandiya King in the banks of Gounda River as a military base. During earlier period the village was known as Sengol Padai (Tamil: செங்கோல் படை), (English: Military of Throne) which later became Sengappadai. ==Geography== Sengapadai is located in Tamil Nadu at the banks of river Gounda, a distributary of river Vaigai. The average elevation of Sengapadai is 12 metre.
