Shchastya ((ウクライナ語:Ща́стя), (ロシア語:Сча́стье ''Schastye'')) is a city of Novoaidar Raion in Luhansk Oblast (province) of Ukraine. Population is 13,770 (2001). Just north of Shchastya, there is the Luhansk power station, a large powerplant built in the 1950s. The town of Shchastya is situated on the river Seversky Donets. During the 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the city became a key site of fighting. In October of 2014, the city was transferred from the Luhansk city administration to Novoaidar Raion. == History == 1754 - was founded village Shchastya 1953 - beginning of building Luhansk Thermal Electric Station. 1963 - Shchastya becomes town.
