Shurdhi In Albanian mythology, Shurdhi is a weather deity of Illyrian origin. == Name == The name Shurdhi derives from the Albanian phrase i shurdhët meaning the deaf one in English. Baron Nopcsa, regarded as one of the founders of Albanology identified the name Shurdhi with the ancient Thracian thunder deity Zibelsurdus, who was also greeted with weapons.〔 The word shurdhi itself, is of Latin origin from "surdus" meaning "deaf". The creation or recreation of an ancient Illyrian pantheon arose in the early 20th century by Albanian nationalists in an attempt to link them to an absent ancient historical past.
