Spider-Gwen
''Spider-Gwen'' is an ongoing comic book series published by Marvel Comics that began February 2015. The series revolves around the Gwen Stacy of Earth-65, an alternate Earth that debuted in ''Edge of Spider-Verse'' #2 as part of the 2014–15 Spider-Man event ''Spider-Verse''. ''Spider-Gwen'' explores a universe where Gwen Stacy was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker; forcing her into a career as the Spider-Woman of her world. ==Publication history== A spider-powered Gwen Stacy was first conceptualized by long-time Spider-Man writer Dan Slott for the ''Spider-Verse'' event; however, his initial concept was very different from what was published, which was mainly the work of ''Spider-Gwen'' creators Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez. Rodriguez's design for Gwen's Spider-Woman uniform was cited as a main reason for the character's popularity, and before the issue even hit the stands, ''Edge of Spider-Verse #2'' was an enormous hit and immediately went viral. In October, Nick Lowe announced at New York Comic-Con 2014, that the fan-favorite Spider-Gwen that was introduced in "Spider-Verse" would be getting her own ongoing series after much demand. The first volume ended after the fifth issue with the character carrying over into the second volume of ''Spider-Verse'' as part of the ''Secret Wars'' event.〔''Spider-Gwen'' #5〕 After the conclusion of the event, a second volume by the same creative team will begin with issue #1 as a part of Marvel's All-New, All-Different Marvel imprint.
