Steelroots is a block of Christian television programs for teens and young adults, designed to raise up new disciples for Jesus Christ. It was recently shut down until further notice; this is explained on the main page of the Steelroots website. (Ben Cerullo ) founded Steelroots after converting to Christianity. He states that the show was begun to illustrate to young people being Christian does not prevent one from having fun and enjoying life. Steelroots showcases extreme sports and popular music with a Christian theme. It also discusses how teens should deal situations such as relationships, forgiveness, temptation, and lying. The shows have a worldwide viewership of over 130 million people. Steelroots has become a resource and clearinghouse for teens who wish to witness to others about the Bible and to serve as an affirmation of their faith. In 2001 a record studio and label were started by Cerullo and Jimi Ray (former lead singer of Age of Faith) called Steelroots Records. The label signed new Seattle, Washington-based rock band Strange Occurrence and released the band's debut album, ''Another Day to Start Again'', in 2002 (). This was followed-up with a live, in-studio EP called The Acoustic Sessions which was composed of acoustic versions of songs from Another Day to Start Again. After two years the label closed, after a decision was made to focus entirely on the ministry of the television show. Steelroots expanded, building an office in the INSP headquarters, The City of Light.〔http://www.thecityoflight.com〕 With Cerullo still at the lead as executive producer, the business direction was handed over to a former PTL employee. By 2010, Steelroots had featured many different television hosts, including a former American Idol contestant. Steelroots continued to be a leader in the Christian music industry, sponsoring the main stages of the former Cornerstone Festival and AtlantaFest. After 2011, however, financial support of the program dwindled and Steelroots shut its doors permanently.
