Stracciatella ((:strattʃaˈtɛlla); in Italian, a diminutive of ''straccia'' ("rag" or "shred") meaning "a little shred", coming from the verb "stracciare", to tear; plural, ''stracciatelle'') is a term used for three different types of Italian food: * Stracciatella (soup), an egg drop soup which is popular in central Italy. * Stracciatella (ice cream), a gelato variety constisting of milk-based ice cream infused with fine chocolate flakes, inspired by the stracciatella soup. * Stracciatella di bufala, a variety of soft stretched-curd Italian buffalo cheese made by using a shredding technique, from the Apulia region.
