Sturton le Steeple

Sturton le Steeple is a village in Nottinghamshire, England. It is located 6 miles east of Retford. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 497.〔("Area: Sturton le Steeple CP (Parish)" )〕
The parish church of St Peter and St Paul has a 14th-century tower with 12 pinnacles. The rest of the church was rebuilt after a fire in 1901–02.〔Pevsner, Nikolaus. 1979. ''The Buildings of England:Nottinghamshire''. pp 340–341. Harmondsworth, Middx. Penguin.〕
Pastor John Robinson was born in Sturton Le Steeple about 1576, the first child of John and Ann Robinson. John Robinson was the founder of the Pilgrims who sailed to North America in the Mayflower.
