Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi

Sheikh Sultan III bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi (In Arabic: سلطان بن محمد القاسمي) (b. 6 July 1939 in Sharjah) is a member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and current ruler of the Sharjah emirate. He has ruled Sharjah since 1972, apart from a six-day period between 17 and 23 June 1987, during which an attempted coup led by his brother Sheikh `Abd al-`Aziz bin Muhammad al-Qasimi took place.〔Jessup, John E.,"An encyclopedic dictionary of conflict and conflict resolution, 1945–1996",Page 773, Greenwood Press, 1998〕 He is also an established historian and has published several theatrical and literary works.
