Sumpiruni Aymara ''sumpiru'' hat〔Ministerio de Educación, Dirección National de Educación Bilingue Intercultural, Yatiqirinaka Aru Pirwa, Lima, 2005 (Aymara-Spanish dictionary)〕 (a borrowing from Spanish ''sombrero''), ''-ni'' a suffix to indicate ownership, "the one with a hat") is a high mountain in the Willkanuta mountain range in the Andes of Peru. It is situated in the Puno Region, Carabaya Province, Macusani District. Sumpiruni lies west of Q'ataw Tira. This is where the Ninawisa River ''(Ninahuisa)'' originates.
