SuperValue is a chain of locally owned and operated supermarkets in New Zealand, established in 1964. The stores are operated under franchise agreements with franchise and group operation controlled by Wholesale Distributors Limited (WDL). WDL is a subsidiary of Progressive Enterprises Ltd which is a division of Woolworths Limited. As at May 2015 there are 41 SuperValue stores across New Zealand.〔(【引用サイトリンク】website=SuperValue.co.nz )〕 ==History== SuperValue's timeline:〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=SuperValue )〕 1928 — G.U.S.(Grocers United Stores) was launched as a grocery store co- operative and quickly opened 15 stores. 1948 — Store numbers reached 167. 1964 — G.U.S launches SuperValue. 1991 — SuperValue Supermarkets was purchased by JR Rattray. 1993 — Countdown, SuperValue and Rattray purchased by Foodland (FAL). 1995 — Progressive Enterprises subsidiaries include Foodtown, Countdown, SuperValue and Rattray. 2015 — There are 41 SuperValue stores nationwide. The 1964 opening of the first SuperValue store was amid a turning point of New Zealand taking on the concept of supermarkets from overseas.
