Svilojevo
Svilojevo (Serbian Cyrillic: Свилојево, Hungarian: ''Szilágyi'') is a village in Serbia. It is situated in the Apatin municipality, in the West Bačka District, Vojvodina province. The population of the village numbering 1,179 people (2011 census), most of whom are ethnic Hungarians. ==History==
In the year 2001, the village celebrated one hundred years from its establishment, and in 2006, recently renovated, the church became a hundred years old. On the session of the Municipality of Apatin in June 2006, Hungarian language gain the status of the official language in Svilojevo. Until then, Serbian language was the sole official language in this village,〔 (Zvonik br. 141 ) Hrvatski u službenoj uporabi u Sonti, July 2006〕 although Hungarians comprised majority in the village since the country of Serbia and Montenegro was established.
