Swimbridge
Swimbridge (historical spelling: ''Swymbridge'') is a village in the English county of Devon. It is south-east of Barnstaple and twinned with the town of St.Honorine Du Fay in Normandy, France. It was the home of the Rev. John "Jack" Russell who first bred the Parson Russell Terrier. ==Etymology== The name Swimbridge originates from the clergyman Sawin Birige, who founded a chapelry at Swymbridge in Anglo-Saxon times. Birige held lands around the village which were known as Birige.
