Syrophenician : ウィキペディア英語版 | Syrophenician
Syrophenician - "a Greek, a Syrophoenician by nation" (Mark 7:26〔http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+7%3A24-29&version=KJV〕), i.e., a Gentile born in the Phoenician part of Syria. (See Phoenicia). : When Jesus took a break in the region of Tyre and Sidon (Matt. 15:21, Mark 7:24), a Syro-phoenician (in Mark's gospel) or Canaanite (in Matthew's gospel) woman came to him, and earnestly besought him, on behalf of her daughter, who was grievously afflicted with a demon. Her faith in him was severely tested by his silence (Matt. 15:23), refusal (24), and seeming reproach that it was not meet to cast the children's bread to dogs (26). But her faith stood the test, and her petition was graciously granted, because of the "greatness of her faith" (Matt 15:28). Mark's gospel reports that it was on her departure from Jesus and her arrival home that "she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed" (Mark 7:30). ==References==
