Talmon :''This article is about the settlement of Talmon, for the Professor of Modern History, please see Jacob Talmon, and for the Biblical scholar, please see Shemaryahu Talmon.'' Talmon (), is a communal Israeli settlement in the West Bank. Located in the West Binyamin at an elevation of nearly 600 metres and 18 km east of Modiin, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. The name of the settlement comes from the family name of the family of gatekeepers of the Temple in Jerusalem who returned to rebuild Jerusalem during the time of Nehemiah.〔(Nehemiah 12 / Hebrew Bible in English / Mechon-Mamre )〕 The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this. ==History== Talmon was founded in 1989 and, as of 2006, includes about 200 families, including over 500 children. Including singles, there are about 800 residents. It is home to three synagogues, and its chief rabbi is Rami Barchayahu. The settlement of Neria was originally built on land designated for Talmon, but it is now independent.
