Short staffs smaller than 1 meter can be called ''tambo''.〔(''Tuttle dictionary of the martial arts of Korea, China & Japan'', Daniel Kogan, Sun-Jin Kim, Tuttle Publishing, 1996 P.273 )〕 There is no official length for a ''tambo'' as different ''ryu'' (martial arts schools) use ''tambo'' of various lengths.
