Tararam

Tararam is an Israeli music and dance group. It has performed around the world, including in the Expo 2000 in Germany, and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.〔 〕
Tararam's artistic director and founder is Doron Raphaeli. Doron began performing professionally at the age of 15. He studied at the Jerusalem Music Academy and served in the Israeli Defence Forces as a drummer in the Military Band. In 1987, Raphaeli continued his studies in New York City at "The Drummers Collective" and the "La Fareta" African Music Centre. Upon his return to Israel, he formed the modern jazz quartet, "Minuette", and the Latin Rock band, "Atraf".
Over the years, Doron has been an active member in numerous bands of diverse musical styles: Acid Jazz, Celtic, Latin, Baltic, Rock etc. Over 25 years of experience in music, production, education and performance art includes collaborations with leading Israeli artists. Since 1996, he has been a faculty member at the "Rimon" Israeli Music College and in 1997 Doron founded Tararam.
In 2010, he released his first solo Fusion Jazz album "The Doron Raphaeli Trio" with bass player Ran Levi and Pianist Hod Moshonov.
Tararam group performs year-round in big venues in front of mass crowds, as well as small events, corporate events and theatre shows. Tararam's artists are versatile in their abilities, including actors, singers, capoiera acrobats, tap dancers, all of which drum and do body percussion.
Tararam has also started a tradition of children's musicals. The first show was released in around 2004, and was called "Tararam Kids in the Surprise Yard". The second show, 3 years thereafter, was called "Tararam Kids - Saving the World". The current show is called "Tararam Kids - Power of Wishes", which was released in 2011. The original cast for this show includes: Yair Tzabari, Noa Barankin, Or Mashiach, Nurit Moshkovitz, Tomer Yifrach and Merav Sharabi. The cast recorded a commercial DVD and Audio CD which was released to the stores and is still sold all over Israel, as well as online.
