Tharad
Tharad (also known as Thirpur) is a town in Tharad taluka in the Banaskantha district of the state of Gujarat in India. It is the administrative center of Tharad taluka. Tharad is near the border of Gujarat, 40 km from the border with Pakistan and 15 km from the Indian state of Rajasthan. The town was a princely state ruled by the Vaghela Rajputs,〔"http://members.iinet.net.au/~royalty/ips/t/tharad.html"〕 and the majority of its population follow the religion of Hinduism.. Its main industry is agriculture and diamond polishing. It is one of border town and popular in near by area. Famous for Peda(Sweets). Its one of first major town on Gujarat on National Highway 15. ==Areas of local interest== Tharad has seven government-run primary schools, and three high schools called Rajeshwar Adarsha Vidhyalay, Janta High School and Gayatri Vidyalaya thrad. It also has an Arts, Commerce, and Science college run by the Shri Anjna Patel (chaudhary) Kelvani Trust. In 2009, the government established a government arts and commerce college. The town has many public and privately run hospitals, including a large referral hospital and a public health center like jj hospital, Dharti Hospital and Gadhavi Hospital having 40 beds and a gynecologist, a pediatrician, an anesthesiologist, and a dentist. It serves the city's 24/7 emergency services.
