Thatha
Thatha or Thathi is a type of cloth used by some Sikhs to fix their beards after spraying them with Taft, Fixo, Swift, etc. Many orthodox Sikhs prefer to keep an open beard as a sign of their dignity and respect, but some Western-minded and modern Sikhs prefer tying beards for fashion and appearance. This consists of spraying the beard with hair spray or beard spray, and a thathi is tied after that on the chin to set the beard properly. This process takes 30 minutes to an hour to fix properly. The issue of having an open beard versus a fixed beard is not seen as worthy of debate, according to some Sikhs; they contend that Guru Gobind Singh Ji told Sikhs to keep uncut hair.
