Thiruvanmiyur is a locality in the south of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The place derives its name from Thiru-Valmiki-Ur, meaning location of the temple of Valmiki. The area has undergone huge development due to the presence of Tidel Information Technology Park near to it. The Marundeeswarar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is also in the area. Thiruvanmiyur houses the Kalakshetra cultural academy, dedicated to the preservation, teaching and development of Indian culture. The other temples in this area are the Valmiki temple and the Pamban Swamigal temple. ==Transport== The area is easily accessible by Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses and has a sprawling bus terminus. Thiruvanmiyur Railway station, opposite to Tidel Park, is on the Mass Rapid Transit System Railway line which connects Velachery and Beach via Chennai Central(Park Station). STPI, also known as Software Technology Parks of India, located near Tidel Park, is another hub for Information Technology companies.
