Traedonya
Traedonya Chequelle, known simply as Traedonya and sometimes stylized as TRAEDONYA!, is an American musician, recording artist, singer-songwriter, model and activist She began her career as a child musician and rapper. After attending high school in New York City, she went on to study Jazz and Fine Arts. In addition to her solo career and work with her band Sample This!, she has appeared on the records of several notable recording artists.
==Early life and career==
Traedonya was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. After moving frequently, at the age of eight years her family settled in New York City. The youngest female MC on the underground scene in the late 80s, Traedonya's professional background in music started in her early teens when she recorded her cult classic "Do the Boogaloo" on Tuff City at 13 years old. It was produced by Errol "Pumpkin" Bedward. The record was a hit in the United Kingdom at underground clubs and in Germany. Photographed by Ian Paul Lawrence, the record cover is one of the very first record covers for females in hip hop.
She recorded another single titled "Sixteen" on the same label. Moving on between doing background and vocal session work, she became the lead vocalist with the hip hop group X Clan and appeared on Professor X the Overseer's "Years of the Nine" single that reached the Billboard's Top 100 on the R&B Charts in 1992.
Traedonya signed her first major record deal as the lead singer and co-writer of the funk/jazz band Sample This! on Elektra Records in 1993. Friend and mentor Large Professor played a huge part in putting Traedonya with the several other musicians. Together, they became the band Sample This!, recording two full-length albums for Elektra. It was the only release on that label.
While her band Sample This! took a break from recording.
Traedonya moved to England and signed with Prohibition Entertainment, releasing her song "Beloved" and touring Europe in 2003 with the single. "Beloved" stayed on the National DJ Times Charts for 27 weeks.
In 2009, Prohibition Entertainment released a new Traedonya single called "I'll Give It 2 U". In 2010, a remix EP of "I'll Give It 2 U" was released, featuring global mixes of the song. "I'll Give It 2 U" was one of the most played songs on New Media radio in 2011.
