Trifacta Trifacta is a data transformation platform provider that enables business analysts, data scientists and IT programmers to transform data into a usable form for analysis. Developed by computer science professors, Joe Hellerstein of the University of California Berkeley, Jeffrey Heer of the University of Washington and Stanford University Ph.D., Dr. Sean Kandel, Trifacta created a platform that combines visual interaction with intelligent inference for the process of data transformation. Trifacta was launched in October 2012; it received $4.3 million in Series A funding from Accel Partners led by Ping Li, head of the firm’s Big Data Fund. It received $12 million in Series B funding from Greylock Partners and Accel Partners, with Joseph Ansanelli of Greylock joining the investors. The company also has investments from X/Seed Capital, Data Collective and angel investors Dave Goldberg, Venky Harinarayan and Anand Rajaraman.
