Tunio ((ウルドゥー語: تنیہ )) is a Sindhi tribe in Sindh, Pakistan. Tunia are Turks by origin from Altai Republic (Kazkistan). Came along with Altamash (King of India) in 1210 A.D. Tunios were given the Governorship of Bhatinda (Indian State in Western Punjab). Malik Akhtiaruddin-al-Tunia alias Malik Altunia(The Chief of Tunios) married with Razia Sultana Queen of India (Daughter of Altamash) after defeating her near Bhatinda in war. After their death, Tunios Migrated towards Sindh with the help of Ghous Bahauddin Zakaria Multani (Originally a Tunio but called himself Qureshi in the love of Holy Prophet and also belong to His Family). A large number of Tunio's in Sindh are also called themselves Qureshi as well as Abbasi & Magsi). The Tunios are Sufis. The sufficient number of famous and historical Sufi personalities of Sindh belong to Tunio Tribe.The majority of Tunio tribe by profession in Sindh and Balochistan is Land Lord, however, sufficient number are also working as government officers, employees & businessmen.They came in Kazkistan from Najaf Ashraf (Iraq) via Turkey and they are inherits of Muhammad Hanfia bin Hazarat Ali (RA), the first cousin of Prophet of Islam. The people of Sindh considered Tunio's as Darvesh or Mian. A sufficient number of Tunio's are lived in Sindh and they come under 20 large tribes by quantity in Sindh Province. Tunio tribe is mostly lived in Larkana, Qambar-Shahdad Kot, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Dadu, Nowshero Feroze, Nawabshah, Thatta, Karachi & Hyderabad Districts of Sindh Province. Nasirabad, Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad & Bolan Districts of Balochistan Province and Rajanpur & Dera Gazi Khan Districts of Punjab Provine. He still have thousands of followers in Sindh & Balochistan. * Hamid Hazoori, great religious and spiritual leader and Sufi of Sindh, his shrine is at Miro Khan Tehsil, District Larkana. He is a first Tunio even first person of Larkana as well as from Sindh who is continuously working at Peshawar for last 32 years which is a unique record of a person who belong to Tunio tribe. * Gul-e-Laila Tunio, student of Aisha Institute of Modern Sciences Peshawar, she is a ever first girl belong to Tunio Tribe of Larkana as well as sindhi speaking who won election of president ship through secret ballot in his educational Institute and make a record.
