Tvindefossen
Tvindefossen (also written ''Tvinnefossen''; also called ''Trollafossen''〔( Tvindefossen ) at World Waterfall Database〕) is a waterfall near Voss, Norway. It is 12 km from Voss on the road to Flåm.〔(Tvindefossen ) at World of Waterfalls.〕〔(Northern European Cruises )〕
The many-stranded waterfall, usually said to be 152 m high,〔 but likely only 110 m, is formed by a small stream, the Kroelvi,〔 tumbling over a receding cliff.〔''Ymer'' 36-37 (1917) (p. 235 ) 〕 It is famous for its beauty.〔Johan Vibe, ''Norges land og folk'' volume 12: ''Søndre Bergenhus amt'', Kristiania: Aschehoug, 1896, (p. 300 ) 〕 Buses sometimes stop for people to admire it.〔Terry Plant, ''Nordic Journeys'', 5th ed. In addition, in the late 1990s the water at Tvindefossen acquired a reputation for rejuvenation and revival of sexual potency that made it one of the most important natural tourist attractions in western Norway, with as many as 200,000 people a year from the U.S., Japan and Russia visiting and filling containers with the water.〔("Vilt ved Viagrafallene" ), ''Bergens Tidende'' 12 August 2001 〕〔Svein Kvalheim notes at the end of ("Vøringfossen på topp" ), ''Bergens Tidende'' 2 November 2001: "det virker som om hver femte bilist denne sommeren lot være å stoppe ved Tvindefossen i Voss." - "it seems as if every fifth driver this summer was bent on stopping at the Tvinde waterfall in Voss."〕
