U-Vox
''U-Vox'' is the eighth album by Ultravox, released in 1986. This was the eighth full album and the fifth of the band's most-recognisable incarnation, fronted by Midge Ure. It was also the last Ultravox album to reach the top 10 in the UK Album Chart. ==Background== Despite achieving a respectable placing in the UK album charts, the album was heavily criticised both by the media and by fans, especially after drummer Warren Cann was unceremoniously dumped by the band before recording the album, being replaced by Mark Brzezicki from Big Country. The sound developed the movement away from electronic rock started by ''Lament'' further and some unusual instrumentation was used, such as the Celtic sound of "All Fall Down" with instrumentation by The Chieftains. The album's final track, "All in One Day", was arranged and conducted by George Martin. ''U-Vox'' was the last Ultravox album with Midge Ure before the band split in 1988. Future incarnations of the band after ''U-Vox'' would feature keyboardist Billy Currie as the lone original member of the band. EMI Gold remastered and re-issued the album on CD in 2000, with bonus tracks, alongside the other re-releases of the Ultravox catalogue. However, this version of the album is extremely rare and made ''U-Vox'' the only Ultravox album that was not readily available on CD, until a remastered 2-CD version was issued in 2009. This version featured the original 9-track album on CD 1 and several b-sides, mixes and demos on CD 2.
