It is one of many satellite cities that ring Seoul, making up the Seoul National Capital Area. Its largest immediate urban neighbor is Anyang (South Korea). The low peaks of the Gwangju Mountains shape the local landscape. Rail transportation is an important part of Uiwang, which is home to the Korean Railroad Museum and Korea National Railroad College. Seoul Subway Line 1 passes through the city, as does the Gyeongbu Line railroad. In addition, a terminal of the Hanjin container shipping concern is located here. ==Characteristics== Uiwang city developed considerably thanks to the expansion of the city of Anyang. Several districts are directly connected into Gunpo and Suwon. However, because Anyang penitentiary is located at the outskirt of Anyang, which borders very closely to Ojeon-dong, Uiwang, which is just next to the borderline.
