The company produces around 3 million tonnes of oil and 4 billion m3 of natural gas per year, having proven oil reserves of nearly 180 million tonnes. Ukrnafta also owns three natural gas processing plants. ==Background== The company was established in 1994 through privatization of the "Ukrnafta producing association" state enterprise that existed since 1945. Its initial predecessor was Ukrnaftcombinat. Ukrnafta is a Ukrainian portmanteau word that is a combination of words Ukrainian and Oil. Just over 50% of the company is owned by the state company Naftogaz Ukrainy, 42% of the company belongs to the Privat Group based in Dnipropetrovsk.
