Uptodown is an international download site for desktop software and mobile apps. It was created on December 20, 2002, and is based in Málaga, Spain. Besides the software catalogue, Uptodown has a blog for news and tutorials related to the world of software, as well as its own official native app for Android.〔http://uptodown-android.en.uptodown.com/android〕 == History == Luis Hernández Garrido and Pepe Domínguez Fernández founded Uptodown in the year 2002 thanks to a project at the University of Malaga, based on their interest in offering a catalogue in Spanish of free applications for Windows, Mac, and Ubuntu. Its international expansion began in 2006 with the translation of its webpage to English, to be later accompanied by local versions in Portuguese, French, Italian, and German. Between 2006 and 2010, and as part of its internationalization, Uptodown came to several agreements to manage the download verticals and provide technology to various firms like Computer Hoy (Axel Springer) and eBay Spain. Content for the Android and iPhone platforms began to be available for download on the page from 2011 following the global surge in smartphone usage.
