Urbery

Urbery is an online grocery and alcohol delivery service based in Toronto, Canada. Shoppers order groceries online and they are delivered within the same day. Customers can place their orders through Urbery’s website or app. One of their ‘grocery gurus’ (personal shoppers) will shop for their order and deliver it right to the customer's door. On average, groceries are delivered within two hours after placing an order. Currently this service is only available in the downtown Toronto core.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.urbery.com/pages/faq )〕 Urbery allows the customer to decide which store the ‘grocery gurus’ will shop from.
== History ==

Urbery was founded by the company’s current CEO, Mudit Rawat, in late 2014. Rawat is a graduate of the Schulich School of Business at York University.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.bayview-news.com/2015/02/grocery-start-up-firm-urbery-seeking-shoppers.html/ )〕 Rawat’s role before founding Urbery was at Sobey’s corporate strategy group, where he evaluated grocery retail trends. His job at Sobey’s successfully prepared him for creating a company all about providing the best possible service involving groceries. One of the main reasons that Rawat left the corporate world was because: “When you work in the corporate world, you work on a lot of big projects. But unless you’re the CEO, you don’t see the tangible results,” he said. “When you’re on your own, you feel the mistakes, and the next day, you can make it better. It’s a completely different thrill.”
The idea of Urbery came from Rawat who grew up in India, where everyone had their food delivered to their doorstep by the local grocery merchant. “It took me a while to adjust to the fact that I had to actually go grocery shopping and there weren’t any options available to get on-demand deliveries,” Rawat explained. Rawat also has said that he does not enjoy going to the grocery store at all. Before moving to Canada, Rawat had never stepped foot inside a grocery store. After moving to Canada, he frequently thought to himself that he would very much like grocery items that he really needed to be delivered. Rawat also did not like carrying an abundant amount of groceries home because of his lack of a car. Especially in the winter time in Canada, carrying groceries is a very big ordeal. Using current research by Nielsen that shows 34% of millennials do not intend on buying cars in the future,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.nielsen.com/content/dam/nielsenglobal/eu/nielseninsights/pdfs/Nielsen%20Global%20Automotive%20Demand%20Report%20April%202014.pdf )〕 Urbery may be useful to individuals living in the Downtown Toronto core who neither have a car or plan or buying one.
