Vietnamese-American Vocational Training College
Vietnamese-American Vocational Training College, known as "VATC", is a private vocational college in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and licensed and regulated by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA) of Vietnam. It was established in 1997 as an English-language training center, but became licensed to offer vocational college degrees in 2006. In 2008 it began a partnership with Broward College in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to begin the process of internationalizing its programs with a goal toward ultimately offering accredited U.S. associate's degree programs.
In 2011 Broward College received approval from its accrediting body to allow its associate degrees to be offered in Vietnam through VATC. In 2012 VATC was licensed by MOLISA to offer these degrees, becoming the host of the new Broward College Vietnam International Center and, for the first time, allowing Broward College Associate of Arts and Associate of Science programs to be offered in Vietnam. VATC thus became the first institution in Vietnam to offer accredited American community college programs in a traditional, face-to-face classroom environment, with a full suite of student services, student life activities, and learning resources. VATC's Broward College faculty and staff come from all over the globe, including the United States, Germany, Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Singapore, and Vietnam. The student body is primarily Vietnamese, but a significant minority of students come from countries such as China, Cambodia, Canada, France, and the United States. Upon graduating with an associate degree, students either enter the workforce, or continue towards a bachelor's degree in the United States, Australia, Singapore, or elsewhere.
With a rapidly growing student body in the Broward College program, VATC is now the first fully functional American community college in Vietnam.
