Vaddi

== History ==
Two copper plates of early Pallava dynasty have been found in the lake, tracing the history of Langulya Narasimha Deva (Langulya =River in Orissa but not surname(as he from shores of Langulya river he is known as )(Langulya Gajapati Raju) an Suryavansha and belongs to Kaasi Gotra also known as Ganga Vanshi. He is an Oddiya king or Vaddi. According to the legend the Gajapathi fort was located at one of the eastern islands of the Kolleru lake.the enemy general muhammadin probably a bahmany general encamped chigurukota located on the shores in some ways the lake is protecting the odiya forces or vaddi forces. The enemy finally tried to excavate a channel, the present Upputeru so that the water empties into the sea and level would fall down so they could attack the Gajapathi fort in Kolleti Kota.The army general Ambadeva Raya sacrificed his own daughter to propitiate gods to ensure his success against muhammadin. and the sacrificed women is Perrantalu or Peddintlamma. Now in Kolletikota there is a temple for peddintlamma. the present local fisherman community(Vaddis) worship the goddess as their aadapaduchu or ''Bale vari aadapaduchu''. These community (Vaddis/ Vaddi Rajulu) వడ్డీలు/వడియ రాజులు vacated oddisha state and settled here during Langulya Gajapati kingdom peroid.
