Varzi is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Pavia in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 70 km south of Milan and about 40 km south of Pavia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,515 and an area of 58.8 km².〔All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.〕 The municipality of Varzi contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Bognassi, Bosmenso, Casa Bertella, Castellaro, Cella, Monteforte, Nivione, Pietragavina, Rosara, Sagliano, and Santa Cristina.
