Vedurupaka

Vedurupaka is a village in Rayavaram mandal, East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh state, India located nearly 30 km away from Kakinada. This village is famous for its ancient cultural heritage and unique customs of rural India.
Local economy is mainly agrarian and the village is surrounded by lush green paddy fields. With a population of 6,000, it has produced many Vedic, Biblical and other Scholars. The name Vedurupaka comes from the great king of Mahabharata, Vidura who spent later part of his life in this village.
The village is famous for Hindu temples which were built by the king of peddapuram "Thimma gaja pathi maharaja" in the 1700AD.
==Attractions==
One of the main village attractions is "Vijaya Durga Peetham" a place of worship of the Hindu goddess Durga.
The village festival of "POLERAMMA JATHARA" OR "SAMBARAM" usually takes place each May; it is a 2 day carnival of religious fervour and traditional dances. This event was supervised by the late Sri Murthineedi Venkayya Garu for 40 years.
This village attracts visitors from many parts of the world to participate in the famous "Dasara" festivals.
The holy river "Tulyabhaga" which flows near to the village is a tributary of the river Godavari.

*Kotipalli on the bed of Godavari
