WFWI is an FM radio station located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The station operates on the FM radio frequency of 92.3 MHz and simulcasts news/talk-formatted WOWO 1190 AM. ==Programming as WFWI== WFWI began life as WFWI in March 1993. The station was owned by Russ Oasis and Steve Avellone, with Tony Coles as the Program Director. The format was Adult contemporary until early 1994. Oasis and Coles then changed the format to The Greatest Hits of the '70s. A few months after the format change, Tony Coles left Fort Wayne for New York's WLTW and Production Director Keith Harris later took over Programming of WFWI. Soon, Harris changed the format to "Classic Hits". On January 6, 1995, the "newly syndicated" Bob & Tom Show signed on as the station's morning show. In 1997, Federated Media purchased WFWI from Edgewater Radio. Following the sale, Federated Media shifted WFWI from a classic hits format to a classic rock format under the name "The Fort," and it remained that way for nearly 15 years. On March 28, 2012, WFWI ceased to exist as Federated Media began simulcasting its (previously AM-only) flagship news/talk station WOWO on both 1190-AM and 92.3-FM.
