WICY

WICY (1490 AM & 102.7 FM) is an American radio station broadcasting an oldies format. Licensed to Malone, New York, USA, the station is owned by the Martz Communications Group. WICY also has an FM translator (W274BI) at 102.7 FM. 102.7 FM and 1490 WICY AM is more than just a radio station. It is the heartbeat of a beautiful small town in upstate New York, just at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, called Malone. It is a radio station that has a long-standing tradition of serving Malone and the surrounding areas with critical information like news, sports and weather, all while playing the music that many would consider to be the fabric of life and what should be the soundtrack of a small American town. WICY is one of the most unique and trend setting radio stations in the United States, evolving constantly with the passage of time since going on the air back in 1946.
The station plays the biggest songs from the '60s, '70s, '80s and early '90s – not just the greatest hits of a specific genre, but a little bit of all of them… The station plays everything from the King of Rock and Roll to the king of pop. You can listen all day and not hear the same song twice. One of their slogans is, "Set it and forget it! You get it all from WICY".
Mark Wishnia handles weekday mornings with a little laughter, all the news and information and the latest information on important events happening in the area.
Unlike Martz FM sister stations WYUL and WVNV, WICY exclusively operates as a local station for Malone and nearby communities, and does not target listeners across the international border in Canada.
WICY had a U.S. Federal Communications Commission construction permit to move to 1500 AM, with a city of license of Mooers, New York, with a proposed facility that would direct a 50,000 watt daytime signal into nearby Montreal, Quebec. This idea did not get off the ground as the small village protested the loss of its little radio station. The stations current program director is Billy Teed, a well-known radio broadcaster from Massachusetts.
