WNAC-DT2
WNAC-DT2 is the MyNetworkTV-affiliated digital subchannel of Fox affiliate WNAC-TV for the state of Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts, owned by Super Towers and operated through a local marketing agreement (LMA) by Media General, which owns WPRI-TV. Over-the-air, it broadcasts a standard definition digital signal on 64.2. WNAC-DT2 can also be seen on Verizon FiOS channel 14, Comcast digital channel 292, and Cox digital channel 811. The channel is available in HD, but it is cable-only, and is carried on Verizon FiOS digital channel 514, Comcast digital channel 820, and Cox digital channel 1015. There are currently no plans to make the HD feed available over the air. Syndicated programming on WNAC-DT2 includes ''The Wendy Williams Show'', ''Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'', ''Family Feud'', ''Divorce Court'', ''Judge Alex'', '''Til Death'', ''How I Met Your Mother'', ''Seinfeld'', ''Rules of Engagement'', ''The Simpsons'' and ''Family Guy'' among others. Each day early in the morning, this station simulcasts programming with its parent. ==History== The station first became active as a 24-hour local weather channel called ''Eyewitness News Pinpoint Weather Station'', which also aired on Cox Cable systems in the area. However, this was made cable-only in 2007 due to new FCC regulations for educational programming. Overnight during weekends when the main channels of WNAC and WPRI ended their broadcast day, they simulcasted the 24-hour weather channel. After the loss of that service, WNAC-DT2 became a live non-audio feed of WPRI's weather radar "Pinpoint Doppler 12". On October 1, 2009, this station became the market's MyNetworkTV affiliate after the service was moved from the main WNAC feed. Before this change, it had aired the network in a secondary manner delaying weeknight prime time programming from 11:30 to 1:30 in the morning and the network's Saturday prime time programming until early Sunday mornings from 12:30 to 2:30. As of 2011, WNAC-DT2 has begun televising local college basketball games on Wednesdays under the banner "Game Night". 〔()〕 Weekday afternoons at 2, the station repeated ''The Rhode Show'' seen earlier in the day on the main station until 2012 when it moved to WPRI. As a result of the 2012 World Series preempting late evening newscasts normally seen on the main WNAC channel, this second digital subchannel began airing live newscasts featuring continuing coverage of Hurricane Sandy.〔()〕 The station now airs newscasts from both WNAC and WPRI when sports or other special network programming preempts them.
