WPGD-TV is a religious television station licensed to Hendersonville, Tennessee. It is owned and operated by the Trinity Broadcasting Network serving the Nashville, Tennessee media market. It broadcasts a digital signal on UHF channel 33 (Virtual channel 50 via the use of PSIP), and its programming lineup consisting exclusively of evangelical and fundamentalist Christian programming. As such paid programming is not monitored by the Nielsen ratings, the impact of this station in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee market to which it is primarily presented cannot be readily measured. The station's transmitter is located in Whites Creek, Tennessee just off Interstate 24 and Old Hickory Boulevard. Studios and local broadcasting facilities are located at TBN’s premier local attraction, Trinity Music City in Hendersonville. WPGD-TV is currently the default over-the-air television station for the Bowling Green, Kentucky media market because a TBN station is not available over-the-air directly from Bowling Green in that market, although it is widely carried on all satellite and cable television systems. ==History== Although granted a construction permit in September 1987, the station did not sign on the air until September 1992 as Nashville’s over-the-air outlet of the Trinity Broadcasting Network.〔(Digital TV Market Listing for WPGD-TV ) RabbitEars.Info. Its original analog TV transmitter was located along Tennessee State Route 109 in Sumner County between Portland and Gallatin. On June 1, 2015 at 6:00 PM Central Time, the fifth digital sub-channel of WPGD and all other TBN owned-and-operated stations switched to TBN Salsa, a new TBN operated television network focusing on religious programming targeted at English speaking Hispanic community in America.
