Through the early 1990s WSPT popularity and ratings was second only to rival Wausau-based WIFC. During the early 90s, the station switched to a Mainstream Adult Contemporary format, branding itself as "Sunny 98". by the mid 90's they changed over to a Modern AC format as "Today's Music Revolution, 98 WSPT". In the 2000s, it segued to Hot AC as "97.9 WSPT" By 2005, it added ABC Radio's syndicated Adult Hits "Jack FM" format, returning to "97.9 WSPT" using Scott Shannon's "True Oldies Channel". When that syndicated format ceased operations on June 30, 2014, WSPT segued to its current Classic Hits format, airing Scott Shannon's "America's Greatest Hits" program on the Weekends.
