Wadbudhe

Wadbudhe's are the adopted Maratha race borne during the time of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj - A Hindu Maratha King who though of Hindavi Swaraj during the Moghul time. The exact origin of wadbudhe is still unknown but it is believed that wadh- means growth and buddhi - means intelligence together formed the surname wadbudhe considered to be very intelligent race amongst all the Maratha population.
Initially Wadbudhe served as Munims - Treasurer at Shivaji's Maratha empire but later on during Mahadaji Shinde, commonly known as Sindhia family period they flourished as excellent soldiers. Wadbudhe's was the only race in Vidarbha, particularly Nagpur region which knew their ways around the dense forest of central India. If history is believed then they were the first one who thought of creating underground transportation tunnels to provide food and other necessary items to common public via a secret bhuyari (tunnel) marg.
There are still evidence of bhuyari marg in Bhosle kingdom which were built by Wadbudhe's. Wadbudhe surname further flourished during the Peshwa era when the whole of India, including modern day Pakistan and Afghanistan was under the flag of Hindawi Swaraj but unfortunately while fighting their battle with Britishers slowly this race lost its mention in the history books. Later on Wadbudhe's splits as Mahajans & Vadbudhe's. No further evidence of their race was ever found in any history books but historians believes that they always stored their secrets in the great bhuyari margs in central India ranging from Bhopal, Nagpur to Hydrabad.
