It has a population of 202.〔(Office for National Statistics : ''Census 2001 : Parish Headcounts : Lichfield'' ) Retrieved 14 November 2009〕 The name ''Weeford'' is believed to come from the Old English ''Wēohford'' or ''Wēoford'', and to mean "Holy ford",〔(【引用サイトリンク】Key to English Place Names )〕 or "ford by a heathen temple".〔 *''Oxford Dictionary of English Place-names'', by A.D.Mills, publ Oxford University Press, ISBN 0-19-280074-4〕 The medieval church is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, and listed Grade II. It was rebuilt to its present form in 1802,〔(【引用サイトリンク】Weeford S.Mary the Virgin, Weeford )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】GENUKI: Weeford )〕 to a design by James Wyatt. Wyatt had himself been born at Blackbrook Farm in Weeford in 1746, and by 1802 had already designed such buildings as the Radcliffe Observatory, Oxford and Broadway Tower, Worcestershire. Manley Hall (also known as Thickbroom Hall) was an English Tudor-style country house which at one time stood in a 1200-acre estate on the western outskirts of the village. ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Weeford」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
