Wormegay is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The village is situated some south of King's Lynn and west of Norwich.〔Ordnance Survey (1999). ''OS Explorer Map 236 - King's Lynn, Downham Market & Swaffham''. ISBN 0-319-21867-8.〕
It covers an area of and had a population of 339 in 141 households at the 2001 census,〔(Census population and household counts for unparished urban areas and all parishes ). Office for National Statistics & Norfolk County Council (2001). Retrieved 20 June 2009.〕 the population increasing to 359 at the 2011 Census.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Civil Parish population 2011 )
For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Norfolk County Council is in charge of roads, some schools, and social services, and the county councillor is Richard Toby Coke. For Westminster elections the parish forms part of the North West Norfolk constituency, represented by Henry Bellingham.
The place-name 'Wormegay' is first attested in the Domesday Book of 1086, and means 'the island of Wyrm's people'.〔Eilert Ekwall, ''Concise Oxford Dictionary of English Place-names'', p.535.〕
Just to the west of the village centre lies Wormegay Castle, a motte and bailey earthwork.
