TV4 or TV CU4TRO (''XHLEG-TV'' Cuatro) is the state-owned public broadcaster serving the Mexican state of Guanajuato. The Television Unit of Guanajuato (UTEG), as its stated mission, provides educational programming, social and cultural television and healthy entertainment for children, youth and adults.
The content of productions and the variety of subjects covered are structured and analyzed by specialists in different areas of education, pedagogy, sociology, culture and vocational development.
TV4 productions are created in collaboration with national and international institutions like Once TV 11 México, Canal 22, TV UNAM, the BBC and Deutsche Welle, among others, to fulfill the objectives of providing information with a high level of content.
The signal is available statewide, covering 98% of the territory of Guanajuato in addition to cable television carriage in 11 municipalities and satellite distribution via Mexicanal and Canal Sur Mexico.
In some form, TV4 programming reaches more than 3 million viewers both in Mexico and abroad, including in the United States.〔http://tv4.guanajuato.gob.mx〕
48 percent of TV4's programming consists of local productions, created to inform viewers of events as they occur in Guanajuato and across the world.
== History ==

In December 1979 the state government and the Directorate of Radio, Television and Cinematography agreed that Rural Television of Mexico (TRM) programming and broadcasts would be regionalised to deliver information oriented specifically to address needs of the local population.
Two years later, the first broadcasts through TRM's Regional Network provided local programming for one hour daily. This later increased as new infrastructure was constructed, with the first test broadcasts televised by Channel 4 in 1983 and later supplemented by regional FM radio broadcasting.
In April 1983, ''Radio y Televisión de Guanajuato'' (Radio and Television of Guanajuato, RTG) was created as a state-supported organisation to broadcast social, educational and cultural programming.
In 1999, the radio station's infrastructure was delegated to the University of Guanajuato, along with its administration, direction and operation. The rest of the former RTG was then restructured, becoming in 2001 the ''Unidad de Televisión de Guanajuato'' (Unit for Television in Guanajuato State, or UTEG).
