The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) is a trade association for the herbal products industry. Members of AHPA are domestic and foreign companies doing business as growers, processors, manufacturers and marketers of herbs and herbal products. AHPA was founded in 1982 and is based in Silver Spring, Maryland. In 2009 it took over the mission of the Yerba Mate Association of the Americas. ==Yerba Mate Association of the Americas== The Yerba Mate Association of the Americas (YMAA) was an association of scientists, companies, consumers, and others with an interest in yerba maté and mate, a beverage that is brewed from it. It was founded in 2006.〔 Excerpt: "Earlier this year, Karr helped establish the Yerba Mate Association of the Americas to promote the drink as an everyday beverage much like coffee or tea."〕 The association's threefold mission is to advance the scientific understanding of yerba mate, to educate the public about the many benefits of yerba mate, and to increase the number of people who try and enjoy yerba mate.
