McBride partnered with Ian Gillespie, a Vancouver developer, to place wellness centres within residential developments in October 2012. Their collaboration allowed McBride to build studios, as opposed to leasing and renovating pre-existing buildings. The company launched the YYoga app in December 2012. The app was built by Pound & Grain, a Vancouver-based digital creative agency. The company opened its first location in Toronto, Canada in November 2013.
