The word Yajurvedi is derived from Yajurveda, one of the four holy Veda (religious texts) of Hindus. The Yajurvedis are further divided into Shukla & Krishna yajurvedi, the former being mooted by Rishi Yajnyavalkya. In Maharashtra most Shukla Yajurvedis are from the Madhayandin Shakha and others from Kanav. The Madhyandin Yajurvedis arrived in the Nashik district of Maharashtra from Gujrat about 500 years ago.〔(【引用サイトリンク】accessdate=August 31, 2010 )〕 However, this conflicts with the fact that even in 1200 AD (the time of Dnyaneshwar), Marathi Yajurvedi Brahmins like Dnyaneshwar were there already.
