Yangmolong was the last 6000 metre independent peak which had not been climbed. It is one of the earths most perilous peaks due to rock and ice falls, unreliable routes and prone to avalanches. A couple of attempts have been made but despite the efforts of the people involved in the expeditions they all failed on their attempts for reaching the summit due to the fact of the unreliable routes and weather conditions. The earliest recorded attempts to climb the mountain were in 2009.
