cofferer In the history of the royal household of England, a cofferer was a principal officer in the court, next under the Comptroller of the Household. In the counting-house, and elsewhere at other times, he had a special charge and oversight of other officers of the house, for their good demeanor and carriage in their offices — all whom he paid the wages.
