''Homeworld'' is a real-time strategy computer game released on September 28, 1999, developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment. It was the first fully three-dimensional real-time strategy (RTS) game. ''Homeworld'' was the beginning of a series, followed by ''Homeworld: Cataclysm'' (2000) and ''Homeworld 2'' (2003). In 2014 ''Homeworld: Remastered'' (''Homeworld HD'' and ''Homeworld 2 HD'' remakes) were announced by the new intellectual property (IP) holder, Gearbox Software.〔 The remakes were released on February 25, 2015.〔(Homeworld Remastered puts you in command of the most stunning space battles ever ). ''Homeworld'' was developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment in 1999. Author Arinn Dembo wrote under the pseudonym “Marcus Skyler” some of the game's background descriptions.〔(Earlier Games )〕 Sierra/Vivendi maintained ownership of the Homeworld IP.
