''Mystus'' (commonly known as Tengra) is a genus of small to medium-sized bagrid catfishes that occur in South and Southeast Asia.〔 ''Mystus'' is poorly diagnosed. ''Macrones'' had previously been used by earlier authors, but this generic name was preoccupied in Coleoptera. Phylogenetic relationships within this genus are poorly understood, though it has been suggested that there are two major lineages.〔 It was confirmed in 2005 that this genus is paraphyletic.〔 There are two fossil species assigned to this genus both from the early Tertiary of the Sanshui Basin in Guangdong, China: * ''Mystus spinipectoralis'' Li & Wang 1979 * ''Mystus dalungshanensis'' Li & Wang 1979 == Species == There are currently 45 extant species in this genus:〔〔〔 * ''Mystus abbreviatus'' (Valenciennes, 1840) * ''Mystus alasensis'' H.
